In celebration of a milestone year for startups on the Space Coast, Groundswell Startups hosted an exclusive showcase bringing together community leaders and investors from across the state of Florida in recognition of the ecosystem's recent tech expansion.
Marked by the opening of the new Tomahawk Robotics building and the expansion of Givr Packaging, Critical Frequency Design, and Alertgy, the organization showcased the diversity of technology and products in their incubator ranging from a lure chasing toy for dogs, to performance wear made from ocean plastic, to Circ, a company focused on reducing the fashion industry's environmental impact through textile recycling.
Groundswell Startups also highlighted new partnerships and investments in their community. Artemis IT, Jaycon Systems, and Flavin Nooney & Person were among the companies making new and larger investments into the ecosystem. At the end of the event, Groundswell Startups received a presenting sponsorship from Atlanta-based U.S. Strategic Capital.
At the event, Groundswell leadership announced the organization's economic impact to the surrounding area and the Space Coast as whole. Most notably:
- Over 60 million dollars in outside capital invested in Groundswell Companies
- In 2020, Groundswell companies collectively earned over 20 million dollars in revenue
- Over 200 high-paying jobs created within 5 companies alone
- Groundswell companies are collectively valued at over 100 million dollars
Community leaders and potential investors had the opportunity to meet over 12 different companies on the night of the event, see live demos, tour the 3D printing and prototyping lab, and enjoy live jazz music.
In the upcoming months, Groundswell Startups will host their signature fall event, the 2nd Annual Product Market and Pitch Night in celebration of the their third Idea Stage Accelerator Cohort in partnership with StarterStudio.
